
Jessica Michelle Chastain, born on the 24th of March, 1977, is an American actress. She is known for her role in films that have feminist themes, she has won numerous awards like an Academy Award and a Golden Globe Award. Time magazine named her one of the top 100 people in the world in 2012. Chastain discovered an interest in acting from an early age and made her stage debut in 1998 when she played Shakespeare's Juliet. She was a student at the Juilliard School and was then contracted to a talent holding deal with John Wells, a television producer. She appeared as frequent guest on a variety of television shows and was also a part of many stage productions. Her film debut came in Jolene (2008) at the age of 31 years old. In 2011, Chastain achieved her breakthrough with six films, which included The Tree of Life (2011), Take Shelter (2011) and The Tree of Life (2012). As a character in the films, she played an aspiring socialite and a CIA analyst, she earned Academy Award nominations in The Help (2011) and Zero Dark Thirty (2012). The science fiction films Interstellar (2014) & The Martian (2015) were commercially more successful than the horror film It Chapter Two (2019). Chastain's strong-willed roles in dramas A Most Valuable Year (2014), Miss Sloane (2016), Molly's Game (2017) and Scenes from a Marriage (2021) were also praised. In the biopic The Eyes of Tammy Faye (1921) she played Tammy Faye Bakker. She was awarded the Academy Award as Best Actress. Tammy Wynette was the miniseries George & Tammy (222). Chastain is the co-founder and investor of Freckle Films, a production company that promotes diversity and inclusion in film. She has a strong voice on mental health issues, as in relation to gender and racial equality. Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo (fashion executive) is her spouse.
